FOUR vehicles crashed on the A64 this morning, which caused rush-hour chaos for motorists.
The collision happened on the westbound carriageway near Askham Bryan, close to the A1237 turn off.
Police received a report about the crash shortly before 7.45am The road was closed at Copmanthorpe, while police and fire crews attend the scene. Highways England wrote on Twitter at about 11.15am that the road had reopened.
The incident caused traffic problems in both directions on the A64.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire fire service said firefighters released one person from one of the vehicles and they were taken to hospital by ambulance.
However, a spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said: "There are not believed to be any injuries sustained."
