RESIDENTS at a York care home immersed themselves in all things French recently.

The French-themed day at Connaught Court, in St Oswald’s Road, Fulford, included an exercise class “avec un ballon”, accompanied by a mixture of French music and ‘Can-can’ singing, as well as a French quiz.

Residents and staff created 3D signs to represent ‘Frenchness’ throughout the home.

The kitchen team served up a French inspired lunch with onion soup, salmon Brittany style with a prawn sauce, Boeuf bourguignon with vegetables, as well as deserts including Tarte au citron banoffee crepe, a French cheese board and coffee, mints and wine.

During the afternoon, everyone also enjoyed a game of French boules, followed by a quiz about famous people and landmarks. Residents also practised speaking French throughout the day.
