MARJ PEARSON shone with a 23-dart game and Sarah Jackson with a 76 checkout as Burnholme bagged their first victory of term in York John Smith’s Ladies League division one, winning 6-3 at Edinburgh Arms.

Amanda Bevan had won the opening game for Edinburgh but they were out of it before taking two out of the last three games.

A 22-dart leg from captain Tracey Farmeary set the tone as Tramways ‘A’ beat Severus ‘A’ to go top of the table, only being denied a full house by Sev’s final pairing of Davina Shannon and Sue Clark.

Severus ‘B’ fared better than their ‘A’ team but lost narrowly at home to Marcia, who stayed on the coattails of the new leaders, level on points with second-placed Fulfordgate, who were without a game.

Michelle Kelly, Angie Kaya and Wendy Storr made sure Severus entered the pairs on level terms, with Chris Hayward, Faye Hawksby and Linda Penrose having hit back for the visitors.

Kaya/Storr edged the club side in front in the pairs but Hayward/Penrose levelled and Marcia captain Hawksby combined with Sharon Rishworth to snatch victory.

Division two leaders Leeman ‘B’ saw Sal Richardson, Brenda Dawe and Tracey Yeomans give them a good start before hosts Clifton replied through Alice Turgoose and Canse Karatas.

Maggie Bedingham and Louise Warren/Heather Bulmer sealed Leeman’s victory and, although Freda Harman/Angela Fletcher pulled one back, Yeomans/Dawe combined to give the visitors a comfy 6-3 result.

Burton Stone saw off visitors Tramways ‘B’ by the same margin, Katrina Thackeray making it a full house in the singles before Tramways recovered to win all the pairs.

Slipper stayed in second place despite losing 5-4 at Leeman ‘A’.

The teams were tied at 3-3 entering the pairs where Jackie Gray joined captain Debbie Witts to edge the home side in front before colleagues Dawn Clarke/Denise Pittock sealed match points. Elaine Metcalfe/Anita Adams won the remaining game for Slipper.

Lisa Benton top scored in Clockhouse’s big home win over Saddle, with only the pairing of Alex Nelson/Doreen England preventing the hosts from bagging a full house.
