A HOUSING developer has been educating school children in East Yorkshire on the importance of health and safety on construction sites.

Darren Thornton, site manager for David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East’s Pavilion Square development in Pocklington, led a special presentation for three to five-year-olds at Barmby Moor Primary School.

The talk, which included information on safety warning signs, building site machinery, protective clothing and more, taught the children about the dangers and hazards on construction sites.

Kathryn Allen-Parry, head teacher, said: “It was a great opportunity for us to have the team from David Wilson Homes come and talk to the children about such an important subject.

"Darren did a brilliant job presenting to the children, making a complex topic easy to understand, while still getting the message about safety on construction sites across.”
