ONE of the original Calendar Girls will open a festive fair at an independent school near York with a talk and book signing event.

Tricia Stewart, the driving force behind the alternative WI Calendar which inspired the hit film Calendar Girls, will be visiting Terrington Hall School to open its Christmas Fair.

She will share her amazing and inspirational story at the fair on November 22.

Tricia has been played on screen by Dame Helen Mirren and on stage by everyone from Linda Bellingham to Anita Dobson.

She said: “I am really looking forward to visiting Terrington Hall School and having the opportunity to share my Calendar Girls experience with the local community. The global success of our alternative WI calendar, which all started in North Yorkshire nearly 20 years ago, continues to delight and amaze me. Events such as this help to continue the fundraising for Bloodwise, which I know was Terrington Hall’s charity of the year in 2016.”

Tickets cost £5, which includes the talk at 11am, a light lunch and entrance to the fair, which opens to the public at noon. Space for the talk is limited. Book early by emailing christmasfair@terringtonhall.com

Founded in 1921, Terrington Hall is a non-selective prep school for boys and girls aged three to 13. A standalone day school with flexible boarding provision, it prepares pupils for entry into the local day schools and boarding schools around the country.
