A WOMAN in her seventies suffered a head injury when she was assaulted in a supermarket car park in York.

North Yorkshire Police has appealed for witnesses after the attack that happened in the ALDI car park at Monks Cross, York, between 5.15pm and 5.30pm on Wednesday, September 27.

A spokesman said the incident involved a white man of heavy build aged in his late forties, who was from the York area and was arrested at the scene.

He was later released under investigation.

The woman sustained a minor head injury and was taken by ambulance to York Hospital where she was discharged following treatment.
