TWO friends from York have completed their climb to Everest base camp to raise vital funds for the NSPCC.
Gemma Lumley and Kerry Morton reached the 17,600ft base camp on Monday with the help of Sherpas.
Yesterday, they set off on a trek up neighbouring peak Kala Patthar.
Bob Chadwick, from Bolton, is climbing with the pair. Between the three of them they have raised more than £12,000 for the NSPCC
Gemma and Kerry completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks several times in preparation for the trip, along with the national three peaks.
