A WELL-KNOWN York baker has gone the extra mile for Harvest Festival - by creating a giant wheatsheaf.
Fred Thomas, of Fred’s Home Bakery, has baked the wheatsheaf to go on tour around some of the local churches and schools for harvest festivals.
Mr Thomas owned Fred’s Bakery for 35 years but handed the business on to his sons, Andrew and Paul, and daughter, Kay.
Speaking about the harvest festival bread, Andrew said: “I think traditionally all local bakers used to do this for local churches. They would put them on display during harvest festivals.”
Fred’s Home Bakery has shops in Albermarle Road, South Bank, and another in Simbalk Lane, Bishopthorpe.
