SOME of the region's award winning property projects will go head-to-head with schemes across the country at the 2017 RICS Awards Grand Final.

The six winners from this year’s annual RICS Awards, North East – which were held in April – were recognised as the region’s most inspiring and community beneficial built projects, and are now hoping to put the North East on the map by being recognised nationwide.

They are:

  • Building Conservation - Walwick Hall Hotel, Hexham
  • Commercial - Feethams Leisure, Darlington
  • Community Benefit - The Word, South Shields
  • Design through Innovation - The Word, South Shields
  • Infrastructure - Dinwoodie Assessment & Simulation Hub, Northumberland 
  • Regeneration – Freeman’s Reach, Durham
  • Residential - Staiths South Bank, Gateshead
  • Tourism & Leisure - The Word, South Shields 

Chairman of the judging panel for the RICS Awards – North East, Adam Serfontein, managing director at The Hanro Group, said: “The RICS Awards showcase the achievements and community impact of each region’s most inspirational built initiatives and developments, and this year’s winners from the North East heat are truly exemplary and world-class.

“The team’s behind them have demonstrated just what can be achieved with vision, exceptional skills and a solid team effort approach.

  • The 2017 RICS Awards Grand Final will take place on November 2 in London.
