A MAN has suffered serious facial injuries after being hit with a machete before being robbed.

The 38-year-old was attacked on Saturday, September 9 at 3.20pm on Westbourne Street near to the junction with Yarm Road in Stockton.

Cleveland Police are appealing for witnesses after the victim was allegedly hit with a machete, and a small amount of cash and cans of lager were stolen from him by two suspects.

The victim needed hospital treatment for his injuries and was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees.

A 32-year-old man from the Stockton area has been charged with robbery. He appeared at Teesside Magistrates Court on Saturday, September 23.
