YORKSHIRE batsman Harry Brook has been named in a Young England Lions squad for a one-day tri-series in South Africa late next month.

The Lions will take on South Africa and Namibia in Potchefstroom from November 23 to December 10 as a warm-up for the Under-19s World Cup in New Zealand early next year.

Brook’s name is the only Yorkshire presence in either that or a senior Lions squad to shadow the early stages of the Ashes tour in Australia.

Surprisingly, Ben Coad misses out on selection following a 50-wicket debut campaign in the County Championship.

Eighteen-year-old Brook, a product of Burley-in-Wharfedale, scored 82 runs in his first four Championship matches for the White Rose this summer.

He also captained the England U19s team.

The U19s World Cup takes place in New Zealand from January 15 to February 3. A final squad for that has yet to be selected.
