THE second trial session for players wishing to feature in the upcoming East v West 'State of Yorigin' challenge match takes place at York Acorn's ground on Wednesday.

As reported by The Press, the success of the inaugural East v West game last December means it will be repeated annually - only this time it will act as a selection match for the York ARL rep team that will not only take on York City Knights in a pre-season game over Christmas but also then tour France next year, playing a curtain-raiser to a Catalans Dragons fixture.

The first open trial took place earlier this month, featuring players from all four of the city's community clubs, plus hopefuls from Selby Warriors.

The challenge match - likely to take place in early November - sees players from Acorn and York Lokos, from the west of the River Ouse, club together to take on their counterparts from Heworth and New Earswick All Blacks to the east.

Players are asked to meet at 6.45pm on Wednesday for a 7pm start.

This trial will be preceded, too, by a training session for York & District ARL's new under-9s representative team, involving players from all four of the city's community clubs. Players should meet at 5.30pm for a 5.45pm start.
