FIRE services have said a bedroom fire in Wombleton left 30 per cent fire damage to the room.

Crews were called out at 11am to the residential property on Main Street, Wombleton.

Crews from Kirkbymoorside and Malton were mobilised to the report of a fire in a bedroom.

Upon arrival, they extinguished the fire using a hose reel, as well as breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.

The cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical fault, though a fire and rescue spokesperson could not give the precise origin of the fire.

Fire crews said that there was 30 per cent fire damage to the bedroom and smoke damage to the rest of the upstairs.
