POLICE have released CCTV footage of a man they are trying to trace after jewellery was stolen in a burglary.

A house on East Mount in Malton was broken into on the afternoon of July 21.

"Sentimentally-valuable" pieces of jewellery were taken from the house, along with a quantity of cash.

A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the incident and released under investigation while enquiries continue.

However, police would like to speak to a second man who was pictured by CCTV.

He is described as white, in his late teens or early twenties and of "proportionate build".

He was wearing a grey hooded top, blue jeans and multi-coloured trainers. He is about 5ft 8ins tall and has short dark hair.

Anyone who recognises the man pictured by CCTV or has any other information can contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Steve Williams.
