THE Met Office has issued a 'yellow' weather warning for the Ryedale area as so-called Storm Aileen hits tonight.
A yellow warning for high winds covers the Malton and Norton area, with an additional yellow warning for heavy rain in place for the north of the district and the Moors.
The storm is expect to hit overnight tonight (Tuesday, September 12).
An amber warning of very strong westerly winds, with gusts of 65-75mph, has also been issued for the Wolds.
The Met Office warns that "longer journey times by road, rail and air are likely, with restrictions on roads and bridges.
"There is also a chance of power cuts, and damage to trees and perhaps buildings."
