A STRICTLY Summer Spectacular has raised over £1,000 for the Milton Rooms in Malton.

Barrie and Pat Elener, from Norton, who have held charity dances for a number of years, organised the event to raise funds for the venue.

“We had a very successful and lovely evening, with the Vintage Rhythms Big Band playing three sets of vintage Big Band Dance Music from the 1920’s to 1950’s,” Barrie said.

“Lots of people danced virtually all night long, whilst others relaxed and listened to the band and myself and friend, Ian Malcolm, sang a few songs.”

Barrie added: “We also had special guest dancers, Adam and Trish Cawood, from the Leeds area, who are top amateur ballroom competition dancers and delighted their audience with a truly wonderful display of ballroom, Latin and jive demonstrations, through the evening.”

Barrie said: “ We would like to say many thanks to everyone who came and supported the event or helped in any way.”

A 1940’s vintage dance night will be held at the Milton Rooms, on Friday, October 13, with the Rhythm Exchange Band and the Alka Seltzer Sisters.

Tickets are £10 and available from the Milton Rooms on 01653 696240.
