A WOMAN who is fundraising to help the hill tribes of rural Thailand who live in poverty has set up a quiz night to raise money.

Diane Darley, who works at Ralph Yates’s in Malton, is going to Thailand on November 1 to teach English to the children of the Karen Hilltribes, on behalf of the York-based Karen Hilltribes Trust (KHT).

As well as education, the KHT also install clean water systems and regenerate land as part of their work in the region.

Diane said: “This is an amazing opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of these people and help them have a sustainable future.”

She added she is meeting all costs herself, so all money raised goes to her education project.

The quiz, which includes prizes and a raffle, will be held at the Chestnut Horse in Kelk, Driffield, on Wednesday, September 6, at 8pm. Entry is £5 per team of four.
