A MAN has been arrested for various offences after being pursued by police in a chase by car and on foot.
A police spokesperson said that "the incident began at around 2.30pm yesterday, August 17.
"A vehicle to failed to stop for officers on the A165 near Scarborough."
Through the use of ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) officers tracked and located the vehicle on the A64.
North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group officers immediately attended the area.
The spokesperson went on: "The car was pursued towards Weaverthorpe where it eventually stopped."
The car, a blue Renault Clio, was abandoned by the driver.
North Yorkshire police then pursued the man on foot across fields.
The driver was arrested a short time later.

Road police thanked members of the public, the police dog team and local police colleagues for assistance in the arrest.
A 20-year-old man was charged with dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, failing to stop for police, obstructing a police officer, and driving with no insurance.
