ONE of Yorkshire’s best-known brass and woodwind concert bands will be touring the National Park for three days, starting on Friday.

The Collingham Band, from near Wetherby, will be playing at four venues, raising money for charity.

The band, which comprises 36 woodwind and brass players ranging from primary school youngsters through to retirees, will play a repertoire that will include popular toe-tapping favourites such as a Teddy Bear’s Picnic, an English Country Garden and a Lincolnshire Poacher.

The band will perform at Hinderwell Village Hall on Friday at 7pm in aid of the local neo-natal unit.

On Saturday, the band will perform on the platform at Goathland Railway Station. Then in the afternoon there will be a performance at The Moors National Park Centre at Danby, both in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. On Sunday, the band will entertain visitors to Whitby Regatta.

Entry to the Moors Centre, and other outside venues is free. Tickets for Hinderwell cost £3 at the door.
