A KNOCKOUT day of entertainment will take place in York next month in aid of St Leonard’s Hospice.

The It’s A Knockout tournament, based on the hit TV series, is returning to Knavesmire on September 3. Some teams have already entered and more are being encouraged to sign up for the series of silly and fun games. This year’s theme is ‘Around the World in 80 Days’.

Spectators are encouraged to come along, cheer on the teams and be part of the day to support York’s St Leonard’s Hospice, in Tadcaster Road. There will be rides, tombolas, games, inflatables, as well as a cake stall and burger van.

A team from the Tesco store in Tadcaster Road will be participating this year for the second year in a row. Brenda Wardle, head of fundraising at the store, said: “We loved taking part in the ‘It’s A Knockout’ tournament last year - it was great fun, and we can’t wait for this year.”

Teams of between 8 and 10 people over the age of 16 can enter by visiting www.stleonardshospice.org.uk or phoning Annie Keogh on 01904 777777.

A £100 non-refundable deposit is required to secure a place, and a pack will be sent out with fundraising ideas and sponsor forms.
