GAS distributor Northern Gas Networks is investing about £15,000 to upgrade ageing gas mains in Milton Road, Malton.
The two-week project, which started on Monday, has been planned, in conjunction with North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC), to take place during the quieter school holidays. Due to the location of the gas main and in order to carry out the works safely and efficiently, it will be necessary to close a section of Highfield Road for the full duration of the project.
The road closure will be in place between the junction of Milton Avenue and Malton Primary School for approximately two weeks. During this time access for residents only will be maintained. A signed diversion route via Old Malton Road and Pasture Lane will be in place. Shops and businesses in the area will remain open.
Robert Hope, construction services area manager for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We have worked closely with NYCC to carefully plan these works to take place during the school summer holidays, in order to minimise the disruption caused to members of the public.
“We will endeavour to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible and will keep customers updated as the work progresses.
“We would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience caused during these works and thank everyone for their patience and support while we carry out this essential upgrade.”
