PORTRAITS in oils, charcoal and oil pastel, as well as a range of exciting experimental photography work, has been on show at Norton College.

Work by students studying GCSE fine art, GCSE photography, food and GCSE product design was displayed alongside AS and A-level art.

The work was presented under lighting courtesy of the drama department and with music from the expressive arts team, represented two years’ hard work by students of the newly formed expressive arts faculty at the college.

Tony Roberts, art teacher, said: “The work on display here is testament to the resourcefulness and resilience of the students.

“With the right balance of nurturing their skills and risk-taking with new techniques and ideas, both the GCSE students and the A-level students have done themselves and the college proud.”

Sofy Brown, Art teacher, added: “I’ve been really impressed with the students’ creativity.

“Students in Year 11, 12 and 13 have been given the freedom to choose personal and individual projects and they’ve risen to this challenge.

“The work covers a fantastically broad range of ideas and media.”
