PLANS to build 300 new homes on the western edge of Pickering are to be put before the public as part of a consultation event.

The development of residential homes is being proposed by Persimmon homes.

The proposals are for the homes to be built on the land south of Firthland Road.

The public exhibition will be held on Monday, from 3pm to 7pm, in the Mill Suite of the Memorial Hall in Potter Hill, Pickering.

Persimmon said in their public notice: “We are seeking the views of local residents to inform our draft proposals and this event will provide an opportunity for you to view and comment on our emerging proposals for the site.

“Please come along to find out more about this scheme and to give feedback on the proposals.”

They added that their design team will be on hand on to answer questions from members of the public.

The site is listed as a residential site option in the district council authority’s Ryedale Plan, meaning it is considered a site with "the most potential".

The Ryedale Plan includes a total target for about 500 more new homes in Pickering between October 2015, when the sites consultation was published, and 2027.
