RYEDALE Folk Museum in Hutton-le-Hole is gearing up for a variety of events this summer.

If you’re looking for things to entertain the children, or just in search of new things to do nearby, the museum is an ideal place to visit.

This summer the museum will be the backdrop for open-air performances of The Emperor’s New Clothes on Friday, July 21, and Pride and Prejudice on Saturday, August 5, with theatre company Illyria.

Audiences are encouraged to make a night of it and bring along a picnic, or get some drinks and snacks from the museum’s pop-up bar. Doors open at 6pm and performances start at 7pm.

There is lots to enjoy at the museum year-round, with six acres to explore. You can find out how people have lived, worked and played in Ryedale from the Iron Age to the 1950s.

The Tractor & Engine Day on Sunday, July 30, offers a great day out for motor enthusiasts and families alike. There will be a variety of tractors, engines and agricultural implements on show, exhibit judging takes place at 2pm and the village tractor run is at 4pm.

A Countryside Crafts Weekend runs over Saturday, August 12 and Sunday, August 13.

See a variety of rural crafts in action, from bookbinding to blacksmithing, wood turning to weaving, and take a walk through history with an re-enactment group demonstrating historic crafts and cooking.

The Gazette & Herald is offering readers the chance to win a family annual pass to Ryedale Folk Museum, along with complimentary tickets to the evening performance of Pride & Prejudice on August 5.

You can also enjoy exploring the village of Hutton-le-Hole, with a £20 gift voucher to spend at The Barn Tea Rooms.

To be in with a chance of winning, just answer the following question and send your answer, along with name, address and daytime phone number, to gazette@gazetteherald.co.uk by Wednesday, July 26. Usual rules apply.
