YORKSHIRE’S hopes of bouncing back from Saturday’s NatWest T20 Blast defeat to Derbyshire at the first attempt were dashed by the weather in Northampton last night.
The Vikings had to settle for a point against the defending champions as rain forced an abandonment at 6.50pm.
Yorkshire now have three points from their first three matches this season having won and lost their first two matches, including at Chesterfield on Saturday.
Their next assignment comes against Roses rivals Lancashire at Emirates Old Trafford on Friday night.
It will be played in front of a 19,500 sell out, the biggest ever Blast attendance outside of London. Yorkshire have lost their last two away Roses T20 matches.
Yorkshire coach Andrew Gale reflected: "Six hours on a coach with no cricket - it's very frustrating.
"There were points to play for there and it's disappointing for everyone. I would have expected a decent crowd and a decent spectacle for the TV cameras.
"I hope we're not looking back on this and thinking 'we could have got the points there'.
"There's nothing we can do about it. It's a 14-game competition, so there's still a lot of cricket to be played.
"The important thing is that we get a win and back it up. If we do that, then we'll go on a run."
