A LARGE 'telehandler' has been used to smash the wall of a local supermarket to steal the cash machine.

North Yorkshire Police are investigating after the theft of the machine from the Co-operative store on Bridlington Street, Hunmanby near Filey.

Police received a number of calls from members of the public around 1.30am this morning, Friday June 30.

A telehandler was used to remove the machine from the wall of the store, and it was then loaded onto another vehicle which drove out of the village.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers are appealing to anyone who saw any suspicious activity - including any vehicles - in the area, either prior to the incident or afterwards.
