POLICE are appealing for witnesses and information about the death of 14 sheep.

The sheep were fine at 6.30am on Wednesday, June 7 - in a field at the top of Golden Hill, near Huttons Ambo close to the A64 - but were found dead on Thursday, June 8 at 9.15am.

It is believed that the sheep, 11 ewes and three lambs, died after being chased around their field by dogs, causing them to become distressed and run into boundary fences.

Officers are investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the sheep being chased to get in touch.
