Cuadrilla’s fracking pad or drill site in Lancashire is about double the size of a football field. They clearly anticipate production at this site.
In Ryedale, Third Energy plan about ten production pads with ten wells on each. They currently have a small pad at Kirby Misperton at present, though that will change if successful. There could be over six hundred of these production pads in North Yorkshire over the years, because each of the many wells drilled on site produces only a small amount of gas so pad production and drilling are a continuous process.
Do we really want these in the pristine countryside of Ryedale and in York City boundaries? Both Kevin Hollinrake, MP for Malton, and Julian Sturdy, MP for York Outer, both Conservative, have voted to allow fracking against the clear wishes of their constituents.
We desperately need MPs who will oppose this and champion the people they represent. I would call on all young people and the young at heart to put down their smart phones, register and vote in the general election to make this happen.
There has never been a more important or critical time for North Yorks.
