A MALTON veterinary practice has just taken delivery of a new £12,000 digital X-ray machine.

Mount Veterinary Group has bought the technology to replace outdated equipment at its surgery in Middlecave Road.

The machine will be used to diagnose fractures, abdominal problems and can also be used to find foreign objects that pets have accidentally swallowed.

The digital images are clearer and can be sent straight to referral vets if specialist advice or knowledge is needed, meaning a quicker and more accurate diagnosis for clients.

Tanya Fielding, a vet at the practice, said: "We are delighted to add this new piece of equipment to our practice.

"The digital images are much clearer than the ones we previously used and with the ability to send them straight to referral vets and other staff members, means that we can make a much quicker diagnosis.

"The old images were sometimes too dark or too light to see clearly and we would need to retake them, however the new X-ray allows us to adjust the light on the screen which makes for a much quicker process.

"The digital X-ray has been a real boost to the practice and all our staff have really enjoyed learning how to use this fantastic piece of equipment. We hope it will allow us to continue to provide the best care to our clients and their pets."

The investment comes nine months after Mount’s merger with The Minster Veterinary Practice in York.
