A FIVE-year-old girl has had her waist-length hair cut off to raise funds for charity.
Scarlett King, who lives in Norton, had seven inches of her hair cut off to be made into a wig by The Little Princess Trust and also raise money for Candlelighters. Her mum, Amy, said: “Anyone who knows Scarlett will know how much her hair is her pride and joy, so this selfless act on her part is amazing.
“My husband and I were so proud of Scarlett for actually going through with it. She really does amaze us everyday. To date she has raised £500 for candlelighters and donated four plaits of nine inches each to The Little Princess Trust. Thank-you to Zoe at SOTA hair salon in Malton for putting her at ease.”
Scarlett, who is a pupil at Malton Primary School, said: “Although it felt strange to have short hair, I love my hair now. I am happy my hair will make wigs for other children.”
