ONE only has to visit the electricity sub station in Hob Moor Drive to see why electricity prices are so high.
Many weeks ago contractors started to replace a sub station that had been there for over 50 years.
The old sub station was on ground level surrounded by a 6ft wooden fence, unobtrusive to people living nearby.
As you can see from my photograph, the new sub station has been built on a brick platform about 5ft high for all to see.
When the contractors were asked why it was so high, the reply was "it is in a flood area code YO24".
I have lived very close to this sub station for 52 years and have lived in the area for 75 years and I have never known it to flood.
If the powers that be designate the whole of YO24 to be a flood risk, god help us.
Holgate Hill is within YO24 and if that floods all of York would be under water.
Maybe somebody sat in a nice warm office, who cannot be bothered to go into the outside world and inspect each site, knows about something that might happen in the future.
If so I will start to build my ark soon and I can assure you that none of these "experts" will be asked to enter two by two.
