SEVEN pupils at Terrington Hall School have been awarded scholarships by senior schools.

Ranging across academia, drama, sport and all-round achievement, the scholarships have been awarded to the Year 8 and Year 7 pupils by Durham School, Scarborough College, The Mount, Queen Margaret’s and Repton.

Drama scholarships have been awarded to head girl Olympia Storey by Queen Margaret’s and to Olivia Smith by The Mount. Both pupils scored distinctions in their recent Grade 5 Trinity Board drama exams and have taken lead roles in recent school productions of The Tempest and The Sound of Music.

In recognition of academic excellence, Freya Shaw has won an academic scholarship to Scarborough College and Ellie Matthews both an academic and a sports scholarship to The Mount.

Captain of cross-country and the 1st XI cricket team Adam Reid has been awarded both a drama and a sports scholarship by Durham School.

Adam, who has won selection to the U13 North-East Independent Schools Football Association squad is currently trialling for the U13 Hambleton Taverners cricket team for whom he played last season.

In recognition of all-round achievement, captain of netball Rachel Lindenberg was awarded an all-rounder scholarship by Scarborough College and Sophie Derby a C B Fry Award by Repton. These involved academic tests and assessments in leadership, teamwork, athleticism and either music or art.

Terrington Hall School headteacher Stephen Mulryne said: "Once again, Terrington’s scholarship record celebrates our pupils’ wide-ranging achievements and underlines our commitment to developing each child’s interests and strengths wherever they may lie. I am thrilled for each and every one of them."
