FROM welly-wanging to dog shows and duck races, there is a huge amount going on at this year’s May Fair in Sinnington.
The fair, which will take place tomorrow (Monday), from 2pm to 4pm, will include a traditional display of Maypole dancing performed by children from the village school.
Karen Selby, one of the organisers, said: “We attract a wide range of generations, but the one thing we hope to offer are some fun events that everyone can join in.”
The welly-wanging contest has become a firm favourite, alongside other stalls, including a coconut shy, a treasure hunt and Name the Teddy competition.
Cakes will also feature strongly, with a home-made baking stall, and there will also be book, plant, bric-a-brac and tombola stalls.
The afternoon starts at 2pm with the arrival of Jack o’ the Green.
A raffle of ‘Made in Sinnington’ goodies will also take place and refreshments will be available in the hall.
The fun dog show and a duck race promise to be key draws again, and children’s races will round off the afternoon.
All funds raised will go towards a new extension to the village hall, which will create a larger storage area, plus a smaller additional meeting room.
Work is due to start on the building work in the summer.
