NORTON-based Harmonia choir won three trophies at the National Choir Day at the Eskdale Festival in Whitby.

The choir, which was formed in 2008 by Alison Davis, has gone from strength to strength and now boasts 55 members who come from various parts of Ryedale.

Last year Harmonia won the same three classes - Songs from the Shows, Christmas in April and the highlight of the evening the choir recital.

The recital is the culmination of the whole day, when, this year, 11 choirs went head to head. Each choir has 12 minutes to showcase what they can do and impress the adjudicator.

Alison Davis, who leads the choir, said: “I can’t believe that we did it again, but the choir have worked so hard to reach such a high standard of performance and they thoroughly deserved these trophies.”

Harmonia regularly sing for local charities and their next concert is on June 10 at the Helmsley Arts Centre. For more information, go to harmoniachoir.co.uk
