PICKERING Musical Society is preparing to stage its spring musical High Society next month.

Following the success of Calamity Jane last year, society stalwart Marcus Burnside will take the leading role of Dexter Haven made famous by Bing Crosby in the 1956 film.

Jess Hebron is back on stage following a break to study at university - she will take the role of elegant socialite Tracy Samantha Lord known to many after being portrayed by Grace Kelly.

Tracy is ecstatic about her impending marriage to George Kittredge, a successful industrialist. Soon, her ex-husband, Dexter, bounds in and informs the family that unless Tracy agrees to be photographed by two reporters from a celebrity magazine, they will print a story about Tracy's estranged father, who is carrying on an affair with an exotic dancer.

Supporting roles Liz Imbrie and Mike Connor are played by society regulars Rachel Anderson and Stephen Temple.

The society also welcomes back Michael O’Brien to play the part of Uncle Willie while real life couple Linda and David Tester will play Mr and Mrs Lord.

Fresh from her role in the pantomime, Alice Rose will also take her first principle role in a musical playing Tracey’s mischievous sister Dinah.

The show is complemented by the music of Cole Porter and audiences will be treated to favourites such as Well Did You Evah, Let’s Misbehave and Little One High Society runs from May 2 to 6 with both matinee and evening performances on May 6.
