RYEDALE residents are invited to discover Scampston Walled Garden and Parkland for free this weekend.

Just one week after re-opening for the new season, Scampston will be welcoming local people to explore the attraction for free on Saturday and Sunday.

Residents will have the opportunity to enjoy all the changes that have been made over the closed period, including the new fairy woodland for families and to try the new menu in the garden café.

Chris Legard, owner of Scampston Hall, said: “We love the incredible buzz at our community weekends – it’s great to see so many people enjoying what lies on their doorstep.

“We’ve made an abundance of improvements over the holidays which we hope that our regular visitors will notice and approve of. There are new options available in the café and some great new additions to the shop, as well as a little magic in the air for children.”

“This year the Community Weekend will take place on the final weekend of the Easter holidays, so we hope it will help to end the break with a bit of a bang.”

Proof of address, such as a utility bill, will be required for free entry. Visitors will need to present this in the ticket office on arrival.

Opening hours for the gardens and the garden café are Tuesday to Sunday, and Bank Holiday Mondays, from 10am to 5pm. The hall will open for guided afternoon tours from May 21 to August 6.
