MALTON and Norton Lions Club has replaced the Easter bunny with a roar this year with a gift of 150 Easter eggs to Ryedale Foodbank.

Lions vice-president Mike Lynch, who delivered the eggs with fellow Lions Di Keal and Robert Wainwright, said: “Malton and Norton Lions club is delighted to have been able to bring some Easter treats to the foodbank, which I am sure will go down well with people who visit.

“This is just one small way in which the Lions support people who need a little extra support in the local community”.

Lesley Hurley, Ryedale Foodbank co-ordinator, said: “I would like to thank Malton and Norton Lions for their contribution of Easter Eggs for our clients and their families. As always the Lions have been very supportive of Ryedale Foodbank.

“As we come to the end of another financial year, sadly we have again seen an increase in the number of people in Ryedale needing help with the bare essentials of putting food on the table. The Foodbank has helped over 145 more people in 2017 than over the same period last year

“Thanks to the generous donations of non perishable food from the people of Ryedale and the volunteers who selflessly give time each week we have been able to meet the demand.”
