PUPILS at Helmsley Primary School are doing their bit to help save the town’s open air pool.
The children were invited to design a poster promoting the pool ahead of a public meeting tonight (Wednesday).
Helmsley Open Air Pool, which is a registered charity, will be 50 years old in 2019 and significant investment, possibly in excess of £100,000, is needed if it is to remain open.
Carol Swift, from the group set up to raise funds to save the pool, said they had decided to hold the poster competition to raise awareness about the facility.
“We had a good response from the children and the posters will be going up around Helmsley,” she said.
“There has also been a lot of positive feedback about the pool, with people coming forward with ideas of how to raise money.
“We now need people to come along to the meeting and show their support and help secure the future of the pool.”
The meeting will take place at Helmsley Town Hall at 6.30pm.
