A GREEN Party councillor and a team of activists have set out on a five-day, 120-mile walk to highlight their concerns about fracking.

The ‘No Fracking Way’ is a protest march from Kirby Misperton in Ryedale to the Lancashire fracking site at Preston New Road in Blackpool.

Andrew Cooper, who is a councillor in Kirklees in West Yorkshire and the Party's energy spokesperson, started out at 7am this morning (Wednesday March 8) and is scheduled to get to Blackpool on Sunday March 12.

Along the way the team will be putting on events highlighting what they say are "the dangers of fracking to local communities and the global environment."

They will also be talking about the different types of renewable energy and the need to reduce how much energy we consume through energy efficiency programmes for our homes.

Supporters have been welcomed to join the march on legs of their route with details on their website.
