VILLAGERS in Langton are coming together to inspire budding artists in their community.
In a joint activity, Langton Primary School and St Andrew’s Church will be hosting an exhibition of children’s art work at the school tomorrow (Thursday).
Visitors will also have the opportunity to view four oil paintings by renowned artist Douglas Hill, which will be auctioned at 7pm to raise money for the upkeep of the church.
The exhibition is open for friends and parents to view from 2.45pm tomorrow and the artist Douglas Hill will be spending time with the children discussing his craft and helping to inspire a new generation of talent in our area.
He will stay into the evening when the paintings can be viewed by the public and refreshments will be served from 6pm.
Douglas is a renowned British plein air painter, born in West Yorkshire, he travelled widely and spent much of his adult life in Cornwall. He returned to Yorkshire with his wife living near Malton for a number of years before moving to Whitby.
Douglas is a self-taught artist who paints directly from nature. His works have featured in galleries all over the UK and in the USA, New Zealand and Northern Ireland.
An auction of four of his paintings will take place at 7pm.
If you are unable to attend, but would like to leave a bid, email alice@teamintuition.co.uk. Sealed bids can be left on the day at the school.
