COUNCIL tax for the district council is set to be increased by 2.39 per cent, it has been agreed.
This is equivalent to a £4.34 increase for a Band D property in the district.
Also approved was an increase in 'special expenses', amounting to an increase of 66p for a Band D property.
At a budgetary meeting held at Ryedale House last night, members agreed the officer's recommendations that the increase be introduced from April.
The decision by council comes within the context of a significant cost-cutting programme at the authority.
The total council tax to be paid by Ryedale residents will also include tax for county council, fire and police. The North Yorkshire county council tax will also increased, it was announced last week.
