A MOPED rider, 16, has been assaulted and had his jacket stolen in a robbery, and now police are appealing for witnesses.

The robbery took place between 7.15pm and 7.35pm on Wednesday, February 12 2017.

According to police, a 16-year-old boy was riding his moped along Manham Hill in Eastfield, Scarborough, in the direction of Cayton Low Road.

He pulled into a car park near the Musham Bank roundabout on the right hand side of the road, near to some flats.

The 16-year-old was then pulled from his moped and assaulted by an unknown man who was wearing dark clothing.

The man continued to assault the boy and then went on to steal the outer and inner layer of the boy's jacket.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, who may have witnessed anything suspicious or who has any information which would assist the investigation, to contact them.
