A CHARITY has put out a call for 1,500 volunteers to help support their fundraising at this year’s Tour de Yorkshire.

Alzheimer’s Society, the official charity partner for the 2017 cycling race, is appealing for the volunteers to raise funds along the race route.

Aimee Maguet, corporate fundraiser for the North, said: “Volunteering for Alzheimer’s Society at this year’s Tour is a fantastic way to get to the heart of the race day action.

“We have already had a fantastic response from supporters wishing to volunteer, but we need hundreds more people willing to donate just a few hours over the race weekend.”

“You will be part of an amazing team, uniting to raise vital funds and awareness for the many thousands of people affected by dementia across Yorkshire.”

The Yorkshire fundraising team are also seeking charity champions to help co-ordinate fundraising activity and inspire their local community to get behind Alzheimer’s Society for the event.

Every volunteer will receive support and materials to help them in their role. All funds raised from the Tour will go directly towards improving the lives of an estimated 67,000 people living with dementia across Yorkshire and Humber.

The Tour de Yorkshire will take place from Friday, April 28 to Sunday, April 30.
