A WAREHOUSE on the outskirts of York will be expanded and retain 400 jobs.
Rosti Automotive Stamford Bridge Ltd were granted permission to extend their premises, which plays an important role in the storage and distribution linked to a major contract with Jaguar Land Rover.
The plans to add a further 1,430 sq metres of space ensures jobs are not moved from the facility.
David Bolton, of ELG Planning, urged City of York Council’s Planning Committee to back the plans when he spoke at the meeting.
“This is a key site in the Jaguar Land Rover supply chain,” he said.
“The Stamford Bridge production facility relies on this site and there are 400 jobs at that location.
“The development will ensure the expansion in the Jaguar Land Rover structure.
“It will also ensure production is not move elsewhere. It will keep key jobs and allow the site to grow.
The site has operated since the mid-1980s as a transport depot in the York area, and since 2011 has had a single user, McKechnie Plastics, which was acquired by Rosti earlier this year.
