A WOMAN who was arrested after a farm raid by police investigating labour practices has been released without charge.

North Yorkshire Police said no further action was being taken in relation to the raid last November, which The Press understood took place at Seaves Farm, Brandsby, near Easingwold.

A spokeswoman said the force had decided to no longer pro-actively investigate the matter, but she declined to comment further.

A woman in her 40s was arrested at the time in connection with ‘suspected exploitative labour practices’ but released on bail until last week. The Gangmasters Licensing Authority said in November that an official from the organisation had attended the raid in a ‘tactical advisory capacity.’

York Press:

The agency exists to protect vulnerable or exploited workers and works with partner organisations such as police, the National Crime Agency and other government law enforcement agencies.

It operates a licensing scheme which regulates businesses who supply labour to the agriculture, shellfish gathering and food processing and packaging sectors.

Trading standards officials were aware of the raid but did not attend.
