THE horse-racing industry in Ryedale is in line for a further boost.
Helmsley Horse Racing Ltd - David O'Meara's stables - is set to get planning approval from Ryedale District Council on Tuesday next week to build an equestrian centre, 40 stables and an indoor exercise track.
The development will be at Common Farm, Upper Helmsley, some seven miles east of York.
This would bring the total number of stables at the yard to 163.
Planning officer Charlotte Cornforth said in a report to councillors: "The equine use of the site and its relatively isolated location mean that the development is not considered to be inappropriate in the Green Belt."
The report adds that the development would provide between 25 and 40 full and part-time jobs.
