CHILDREN from Malton Primary School enjoyed a tour of wildlife artist Robert E Fuller’s gallery in Thixendale as part of an educational visit to learn about the countryside.

The artist, who is currently holding an exhibition of his paintings, showed 23 pupils from Year’s 4 and 5 around his latest display and then answered their questions.

“They have such inquisitive minds,” said Mr Fuller. “It was great to see them taking it all in and learning a little about the wildlife in the countryside. It is so important that the next generation have some connection with our natural heritage.”

After their tour of Mr Fuller’s gallery the children were taken on a walk through farmland to see a badger sett and look for pheasants and partridges. They then retired to a classroom at the Uncleby Education Centre to try their hand at painting their own pictures of wildlife.

The visit was organised by Uncleby Farm Visits and was funded by Natural England.
