A RYEDALE vineyard was raising a glass recently after winning two gongs at a county-wide food and drink awards.
Ryedale Vineyards, wine-makers based near the village of Westow, won both the Best Yorkshire Wine and also the Supreme Product 2016 awards for their Dalesman White Sparkling wine at the Deliciously Yorkshire Taste Awards.
The winning bottle was praised by judges: "With peachy notes and punchy bubbles, this wine smells fresh and enticing.
"Clean and refreshing it's certainly very drinkable and a real Yorkshire treat."
They added that the inclusion of the wine at the awards highlighted the high regard in which locally-produced wines are now held.
Ryedale Vineyards is a family business, started in 2006 by Stuart and Elizabeth Smith.
England's most northerly vineyard, they have been producing award-winning wines since 2009.
