THE skyline above Castle Howard is set to explode on Saturday with a display of fireworks that promises to be "out of this world".

A fully choreographed display will combine state-of-the-art fireworks, synchronised to a specially commissioned music track and an exclusive cinema screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens to close the show.

Fans of the sci-fi saga will also be able to try their hand at lightsaber combat as the Lightsaber Academy visits Kaboom to showcase LudoSport, a growing combat sport inspired by Star Wars.

For younger children there will be a film screening of the Disney Pixar classic Monsters Inc ahead of the main firework display, as well as a traditional funfair, a Sparkler Park, live entertainment, fire jugglers, carnival performers, and refreshments.

Tickets are £15 for adults and £10 for children (aged five to 15). Under fours free. Family tickets are £35 for two adults and two children.

Tickets must be purchased in advance at kaboomyork.com, castlehoward.co.uk or at the Visit York Information Centre, Museum Street, York.

Free parking will be provided at the event and a dedicated parent and child parking space can also be reserved. Dedicated transport from York city centre and from Malton to Castle Howard will also be available. Gates open 4.30pm. Fireworks start at 8pm.
