A MAN was attacked and seriously injured by a masked gang in a North Yorkshire house.
Five men forced their way into a property in Vicars Croft, Nothallerton, and threatened the occupants, before attacking the 26-year-old man, leaving him with serious but not life-threatening injuries that required hospital treatment.
The attack happened at about 11pm on Tuesday, and the men are believed to have run towards Bullamoor Road before making off in a car.
Detective Sergeant Simon Hepburn, of the Northallerton Serious Crime Team, said: "This was a frightening attack for the occupants of the house and has no doubt caused alarm among residents.
"I'd like to reassure local people that we believe this was an isolated and targeted incident. Nevertheless, we have increased patrols in the area while extensive police enquiries are ongoing to track down the suspects."
Det Sgt Hepburn urged anyone with information or who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact police on 101, email simon.hepburn@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111, quoting reference 12160189875.
